The 14th edition of African Decentralization and Local Development and 8th African Civil Status Day was celebrated on Sunday August 10, 2025 at the Tiko Council.
The Day that is celebrated yearly on August 10, organised by Tiko Council, took place at the council Banquet hall with theme ‘Building Resilient Communities through inclusive Decentralization and Advanced Development’
In his welcome speech, Tiko Council Mayor, HRH Dr Peter Ikome Mesoso III mentioned the fact that Tiko Council the gateway city decided to celebrate the day by organising Mass Marriages and Distribution of Free Birth certificates.
He went further by appreciating the Muslim Communities for their massive turnout especially registering over 12 Couples in this year’s celebration.
Highlights of the celebration was the presentation on Sensitisation on Digitalization of Civil Status and Vital statistics from the South West Regional chief of Bunec, Mr Walters Ndzerem, Distribution of Free Birth certificates by mayor HRH Dr Mesoso III, Legalisation of Free Marriages, handing over of certificates and cutting of the Cake.
The celebration witnessed the presence of the Assistant Divisional officer of Tiko, fourth Deputy Mayor of Tiko Council, Waindim Rudolf, South West Regional chief of Bunec, Mr Walters Ndzerem, the Divisional Delegate of Decentralization and Local Development Fako, Tiko Council Secretary General, Mrs Eri Ita Tatason, chief of Administration Madam Coretta Njie Makia, chief of Bureau Civil status Mrs Anna Enanga, CEO of Humble Friends Association, madam Douala Seraphine, Family and love ones of the Couple amongst others.
